Steffan "Mr Wiggles" Clemente is one of the most influential figures in the hiphop culture today. So when R.E.D collaborated with Fresh Elements in QLD to bring this legend to Perth for a 3hr workshop - where dancers could learn the history of the moves, learn the origin of the steps broken down to their foundations, where dancers could learn about rockin and how to DANCE TO THE MUSIC, and learn from a pioneer who has influence generations of dancers - the vibe and response was unprecendented!! Mr Wiggles taught a 2hr dance class which included the styles of "poppin", "lockin", "boogaloo", "top rockin" and more! This was then followed by a 1hr Q&A session, in which the audience was held captivated by his answers and stories! It was definitely a workshop not to be forgotten anytime soon!!

We have seen Sean represent Australia on the internationally televised hit television show “Superstars of Dance”. You’ve seen his highly coveted footwork, on the Hollywood Blockbuster “Happy Feet”, and as one of the selected soloists at the “Sydney 2000 Olympic Games” opening ceremony. Having trained under tapping legends like Savion Glover, and a member of the “Tap Dogs”, it is no wonder that Sean has been dubbed AUSTRALIA’S NUMBER 1 TAP DANCER! In October 2010, Sean took some time out while filming Happy Feet 2, to fly to Perth and headline RED’s first tap dance workshops. Over two days Sean taught intermediate to advanced tap classes, and master classes. He even taught a special Junior Advanced Tap class for 10-14 yr olds. Sean gave Perth tappers a good run for their money, challenging not only their feet but their brains as well with his complex tap rhythms and grooves. All the dancers had a ball, and were put to the test when they had the chance to really show their rhythmical skills during the jam sessions. Perth tappers have demanded Sean’s return! And we can’t wait to bring him back.

In April 2010, 3 of the world’s most notable HIP HOP dancers/inventors descended upon Perth to host Perth’s biggest dance intensive yet– “Empire State of Dance”. Over 2 Days, 3 Dance Legends taught 6 different dance styles, over 9 workshops. Perth dancers had the privilege of learning Hip Hop, B-More, Step, Popping, Boogaloo, and House, from “Popping Pete” (Electric Boogaloos, Michael Jackson), “ShoTyme” (Gwen Stefani, Christina Milian), and “Tweetie” (Destiny’s Child, Jay Z, Shakira, MTV’s Dances from Da Hood) and more. The dance intensive closed with an invaluable information session, where Popping Pete, ShoTyme and Tweetie were able to teach Perth’s hip hop dance scene about the history and evolution of hip hop dance, music and culture, and provide them with a better understanding of how and why hip hop dance is the way it is, and the importance and impact of the history and culture of hip hop to its dancers. More importantly they taught Perth dancers a valuable lesson, that dance is an expression of yourself. Learning routines, while important does not make you a dancer. Understanding yourself, your emotions, and using the music to express yourself through your dance makes you a dancer.

In November 2009 Britney Spears brought her world renowned Circus World tour to the shores of Australia. Dancing back up to her were some of the industries finest: George Jones Jr. Laura Edwards, and Ava Bernstien. Talented, and gracious, George, Laura and Ava took some time out teach Perth’s dancers a thing or two about dancing like the pros...and showing us just what it takes to dance to for someone like Miss Britney Spears. George took to the floor with some Old School hip hop, Laura Edwards with her creative interpretation to a favourite Michael Jackson ballad, and Ava show the ladies how to vamp it up in their stilettos!
